Can I test the system first?
YES - once you have registered, you will be assigned a merchant number, and the setup documentation will be sent to you. While you are in test mode, you are not under any obligation to PriceTag, and it is also totally free. The test mode will simulate the payment interface exactly as for when you are in real live mode.Once you have completed testing and ready to switch to live mode, only then will the agreement and fees to PriceTag come into effect. It is then a simple matter of changing your merchant status to live on our side, and the next transaction from you will be processed by the bank systems.
What type of goods are allowed to be sold?
PriceTag views each merchant and the goods being sold online indivually, but in general we do not allow for merchants selling any pornographic material or socially unacceptable content.
How can my site interface with PriceTag?
There are 2 methods:
- Via the secure payment pages of PriceTag.
- By calling a web service via XML/SOAP directly from the merchant web site.
What are the differences between these 2 methods?
The payment pages exist within the secure environment of PriceTag, and therefore the merchant web site will have to send the basic transaction information to these pages, where the online user will then complete the transaction by filling in the credit card detail. This means that the user must leave the merchant web site, and conclude the transaction at PriceTag.
The web service method allows the entire transaction to be called and getting a response back from PriceTag while remaining within the merchant web site. This does require SSL to be at the merchant web site, seeing that the credit card information is filled in at the merchant.
Does PriceTag support multi-currency transactions?
Yes - but this option is only available when making use of the web service interface. Currently we support the following currencies:
- US Dollar
- UK Pound
- EURO
- Australian Dollar
- New Zealand Dollar
Do I need a shopping basket system?
That is entirely up to you, and it depends on the complexity of your web site and your own catalog system for shopping online. Both methods of interfacing into PriceTag are unaware of the merchant web site implementation, and will simply accept the transaction information being sent to it from the merchant according to the setup specifications.
Does PriceTag allow for me to reserve money on a credit card and then later deduct the money?
YES, this is exactly the basis on which we work - it is always 2-step process - AUTH first, and a DEBIT later.
How often and how soon does PriceTag pay the merchant?
All payments are made before business each day - about 6am. This ensures that the merchant's funds should be reflected in their account by midnight the same day or at most a 1 business day delay. Weekends can cause a longer than 1 day delay seeing that inter-bank transfers are delayed during the non-working days.
Does PriceTag allow for debit cards?
YES and NO - strictly speaking, only credit cards, but some cards are linked to a current account, making it an effective DEBIT card transaction, but without the PIN - it's still actually a Credit card transaction.
Which credit cards are supported by PriceTag?
MASTER, VISA, AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINERS
